About
AFM Physical Therapy is an outpatient clinic specializing in physical therapy services to treat any orthopedic and musculoskeletal condition. We bridge the gap between the rehab process and sports performance.
Who We Help
We specialize in helping adults and athletes be more active, healthy and mobile. We empower our patients through movement instead of medication or avoiding the activities you love. We customize and provide long-term strategies to safely return and sustain an active, pain-free lifestyle.
What to Expect
First Visit
Your first session at AFM begins with an in-depth initial evaluation. This one-to-one initial treatment session with a Doctor of Physical Therapy assesses and analyzes asymmetries of mobility, strength, motor control/coordination, posture and movement patterns to help us identify the root cause of your pain or dysfunction. Throughout the 60-minute session, you and your Doctor of Physical Therapy will discuss your concerns, goals and needs. After an in-depth analysis, AFM will provide you with a treatment plan tailored specifically for you. You can expect hands-on manual treatment and a set of home exercises that will decrease pain and improve function.
Please download and fill out the intake paperwork prior to your first session to ensure ample time is allotted for the appointment time. Please email the completed forms or print and bring them to the first session. If you intend to complete your paperwork in the clinic, please arrive in 20-30-minutes prior to your appointment time.
Follow-Up Sessions
Unlike other clinics, each follow-up session at AFM will continue to include one-on-one care with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. You will not be handed off to an aid or tech. AFM provides a concierge type service that allows you direct care with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. Each treatment session is scheduled for 1 hour; however, appointment times may run longer depending on specific needs.
Meet the Team
Garo Caparyan, PT, DPT
OWNER, PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Dr. Garo Caparyan is an experienced clinician with years of exposure in the outpatient clinic setting. He has worked for numerous clinics, gaining experience and knowledge from each one in order to better hone his skillset. Dr. Garo’s skillset allows him to find the root cause of the problem in order to create a tailored plan of care to improve movement, eliminate pain and most importantly get a patient back to living an active lifestyle. This is accomplished through a combination of manual hands-on skills and specific exercises tailored for each individual’s needs.
After years of working at other clinics, Dr. Garo launched AFM Physical Therapy to fulfill his dream of providing honest, high quality PT services with a focus on true one-to-one care. He worked for various busy, traditional outpatient clinics, and grew frustrated over his inability to give clients the proper time, experience and care they deserved. He knew there had to be a better way, and this is how AFM was born. Dr. Garo’s number one objective is to provide the best possible care for his patients to allow them to achieve their goals, move better and live a more active, fulfilling lifestyle.
Dr. Garo received his doctorate degree from Rutgers University in 2016. He brings years of experience to the field and continues to further his knowledge basis through continuing education.
During his free time, Dr. Garo enjoys spending time with his family and friends, focusing on fitness, exploring new food scenes and the outdoors, watching movies, traveling and rooting for the Brooklyn Nets.
